MST 600W is an electromagnetic start-regulating device for sodium and metal halide lamps

It consists of a choke, a starter ("lighter"), a capacitor and a control circuit.

Chokes (ballasts) adjust the voltage supplied to the selected lamp, up to the working one for it and ignite the lamp by creating a high voltage pulse after the interruption of the current from the starter. Magnetic chokes are compact and cost-effective devices that are suitable for "lighting" lamps from 250W to 1000W. It is recommended that chokes be kept outside of smaller grow rooms, as they convert some of the electricity they absorb into heat and can thus contribute to an increase in temperature.

This 600w Electronic Ballast is supplied as a stand-alone ballast with a flying IEC lead so you can add any reflector fitted with an IEC socket to start growing. The ballast features both dim and boost functions, having the ability to control the light output from the lamp.

The ballasts regulate the voltage supplied to the selected lamp, to the working lamp and to ignite the lamp, creating a high-voltage pulse after the interruption of the starter current. The difference between the two is that the electronic ballast does not require a starter and is usually lighter and less heated. Other advantages are the quieter operation of the conventional throttle, the increase in lamp life by 30% - 50% and the reduced pulsations of light output.
