Bluelab EC and PH Tester Cleaning and Maintenance Kit

Cleaning and storing the probe properly ensures that you get the most accurate readings possible and extends its life. The surface of the probe is where the instrument reads a solution or soil measurement . If the probe body is dirty , readings may be inaccurate.

Tip: If the EU tester reads a lower conductivity than the actual one, the probe needs cleaning. pH probes specifically, must be kept moist at all times for optimal performance and life.

Bluelab Conductivity Probes (EC/PPM): Cleaning and Care:

To get the longest life and most accurate measurements from your conductivity products, be sure to clean your pen every month.

Quick Tips for Conductivity Probe Care:
Do not touch the probe sensors with your fingers. This can contaminate the probe with oils.
Do not immerse in oils, proteins or suspended solids. This will leave a coating on the probe tip which will affect the measurements.

How to clean the conductivity probe:

• Remove the cap or cover.
• Add a few drops of Bluelab Conductivity Probe Cleaner to the face of the probe.
• Use a cloth or scouring pad to clean the face of the probe, removing debris and build-up.
• Rinse the face of the probe with clean running tap water to remove traces of detergent.
• Replace the cap or cover, being careful not to touch the face of the probe.
   

Bluelab pH Probes: Care, Maintenance and Storage:

Cleaning:

• Remove the cap.
• Fill a plastic cup with tap water and add a few drops of detergent.
• Swirl the pen in the solution and rinse with fresh clean tap water to remove the solution.
• For heavier contamination, use a soft, clean toothbrush to gently scrub the probe, then rinse with fresh, clean tap water.

Calibration:

Calibrate after each cleaning and at least once a month.

• Turn on the pH pen.
• Calibrate to pH 7 by placing the probe tip in fresh pH 7 solution. Wait for the reading to stabilize between pH 6.6 - pH 7.5.
• Long press the Cal button until CAL is displayed. Release the button. The calibration sequence will begin flashing "0" on the display in sequence. Once “0000” stops flashing, the sequence is complete. Rinse the probe tip in fresh tap water.
• Repeat with pH 4 solution.
• A checkmark will confirm successful calibration.

Quick Care Tips:

Do not allow the tip of the probe to dry out. If it accidentally dries out, hydrate your probe for 24 hours in KCl storage solution and test again.

Do not hit or drop the pen. This can break the outer glass flask or the inner glass tube.

Do not touch the glass bulb with your fingers. This will stain the glass.

Do not immerse a cold probe in a hot liquid or vice versa. Sudden temperature changes can crack the glass and damage the permanent pen.

Do not soak the pen in RO (reverse osmosis) water (rinsing with RO water is acceptable, but never soak or rinse in distilled or deionized water).

Do not immerse in oils, proteins, or suspended solids, which will leave a coating on the glass flask.
