How to use Bluelab Combo Meter step by step:
- Insert the supplied batteries
- Connect the Leap pH probe: Connect the Leap pH probe to the meter by lining up the protrusions on the BNC fittings. Securely secure by pressing the connector on the Leap pH probe and turning it a quarter turn.
- Press any button to turn on the Bluelab Combo Meter Plus. The meter will automatically turn off after four minutes.
- Pre-condition the pH probe before first use by dipping the probe tip into the substrate several times, then rinse. Note that the bridge at the tip of the probe will change color.
- A pH calibration is required before first use .
- Take your first measurement: Dip the EC probe into your nutrient solution to see the display reading, or place the jump probe into the soil or substrate in the root zone.
Care Tips:
Clean and calibrate your probes monthly to maintain probe accuracy
- Always store the pH probe in the storage cap with enough KCl (potassium chloride) to cover the tip of the probe . The probe will be damaged if left dry.
- The glass tube can be easily damaged. Be careful not to hit the inner tube.
- Do not immerse in oils, proteins, or suspended solids, which will leave a coating on the glass flask.
- Never store, soak, or rinse the pH probe in reverse osmosis, distilled, or deionized water.
- If you use your probe regularly, weekly calibration is recommended.
When used in soil/substrate:
- If the soil/substrate is dry, moisten with a small amount of distilled water.
- Remove the storage cap. Insert the probe, making sure it makes direct contact with the root zone. To work in a solution, dip the tip of the probe.
- Turn on the meter and wait for the measurement to stabilize.
- Rinse the probe tip in fresh tap water after each use to remove residue.
- Replace the storage cap, making sure the tip of the probe is covered with KCl storage solution .
